Improper use of walking aids can increase the risk of falls amongst older adults. It is important to regularly assess the suitability of the equipment and ensure that patients understand how to use them correctly. Whether you’re looking for a walking aid or are struggling with an existing one, Young at Heart Physiotherapy can guide you through the process. Where a walking aid has been issued for temporary use, we can also support you to transition off it back to non-assisted mobility.

Please note, Young at Heart does not supply walking aids but can make recommendations and advise on where you can purchase them from.

Young at Heart Physiotherapy specialises in developing support plans for older adults (65+) who are currently, or will shortly be, using a walking aid. All programmes include:

  • Conducting a full physical assessment to understand the patient’s functional abilities
  • Establishing appropriate treatment goals aligned to their individual needs
  • Developing a detailed treatment plan consisting of functional exercise and practical recommendations
  • Providing a printable guide and videos outlining key exercises
  • Assisting the patient to practice and progress with their treatment plan
  • Providing advice to family members and/or carers to further support the patient and help them identify potential hazards in the home environment

Young at Heart Physiotherapy is run by Magali Longman, a Chartered Physiotherapist with over 12 years experience (HCPC registered).
